I Hit the Jackpot!!

  01/10/2024

Recently I received 10 lottery tickets as a birthday present One of the tickets was a winner (over $100,000). My question is, should I share some of it with the person who gave it to me? I haven't told anyone of my winnings yet. I would like to wait for your advice. Armand

Dear dear Armand, Congratulations on the windfall! This was a gift, meaning do with it as you please. It wasn't conditional depending on whether you won or not. Think about this: If you gave someone what turned out to be a major winning lottery ticket, and they told you they won, would you expect some of that money? Or would you say "it's your ticket, not mine, congratulations!" If you feel compelled to give them some of the money, then do so. But, it is a gift and all you have to do is thank them for the GIFT. Some people would just thank them and call it a day!
