My friend insists on rating every meal they eat on a scale of 1 to 10, complete with a critique. How do I tell her to shut-up? Glynnis

Hi Glynnis, I suppose asking her to stop won't help much would it? Try this: Once she starts rating her meal, rate her for rating the meal. When she asks why you're rating her, say "Someone should rate the rater". Once she starts criticizing the meal, criticize her critique. When she asks why you're criticizing her, say pleasantly "If you can dish it out, then you should also take it!" This may annoy her, however, point out that her actions are just as annoying to you. Done enough times, she will either stop doing it in your presence.or she will continue to do it. If that happens, consider her actions as rude, and stop having meals with her. If she's really good at it, she should consider doing it professionally and get PAID!
